The other
important factor that a professional sports handicapper has to consider is ‘Mother Nature’ ( in other words, weather
reports for you members of ‘the great unwashed’ who don’t know who ‘Mother Nature’ is!).
Weather
reports are terribly important.
In some
sports, weather reports are more important than injury reports!
Here
are some examples:
A-Extremely
cold weather will affect the ability of a football quarterback to throw the football.
B-Extremely
cold weather will affect the ability of a receiver to catch the football.
C-Extremely
cold weather affects increases the chance for football injuries because the ground is harder, and it hurts worse when a player
falls.
D-Extremely
cold weather increases the chance of a football fumble.
E-A high
wind chill factor makes everything from A-D above even worse.
Now that’s
just the effect of extreme cold weather on football players.
Baseball
players are also negatively affected in cold weather situations. Some players don’t even get a chance to run around
that much.
They
just have to stand there and wait for someone to hit the damn baseball.
The poor
catcher has to squat for extended periods with his butt exposed and his nuts freezing.
The catcher
is the only player who gets to warm his hands in his crotch without anyone really staring at him too hard.
Conversely,
extremely hot weather affects all players; but football players in particular.
Extreme
heat saps the body, and makes a football player more susceptible to heat related injuries.
Unfortunately,
there have even been some tragic heat related football deaths.
Baseball
players can also be negatively affected by the heat because they have to stand out in the sun under the merciless sun for
long periods of time in some cases during the summer months with no time outs for a water break; especially
during the ‘Dog Days of August’.
I’ve
looked at literally hundreds of sports weather reports over the years, and ( in my humble opinion ) there is only ONE sports
website that posts consistently ACCURATE weather reports!
Since
‘Mother Nature’ ( like most females that I know! ) changes Her mind several times a day, I finally lucked into
a sports website that post ACCURATE reports ( with Wind Chill Factors and Heat Index Reports ) that are regularly updated
as ‘Mother Nature’ changes Her mind.
These reports
are posted by ‘The Vegas Insider’ ( the term 'Vegas' is short for Las Vegas, NV, for you members of ‘the
great unwashed’ who are geographically challenged and don’t know that the city of Las Vegas is the ‘Sports
Betting Capital’ of the United States, if not the word!) at:
www.vegasinsider.com
Once
again, I’ve listed the weather report links below:
MLB WEATHER
http://www.vegasinsider.com/mlb/weather/
NFL WEATHER
http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/weather/
NCAA FOOTBALL WEATHER
http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/weather/
Finally,
for really slow members of ‘the great unwashed’ who cut a lot of classes in elementary school, junior
high school and high school, NBA and NCAA Basketball games are played indoors.
So there
is no need for a weather report(s).
Got it?
You sure?
O.K.?
Hey,
when dealing with the general public one has to cover all of his/her bases in order to be completely sure that everyone understands
what's being said.
Even
then somone tries to go downstairs on the 'up' escalator!
As was
the case with Don Best Sports, I am not getting a damn dime from ‘The Vegas Insider’ for endorsing their
weather reports.
I just
personally like them better than others.
I just
want to level the playing field for my viewers.
O.K.
boys and girls.
That's
it.
Hopefully the
above information will help you make more intelligent sports betting decisions.
However, the
reality is that many viewers will remain as dumb as a box of rocks!
In spite of
having important handicapping information handed to them on a damn 'silver platter'.
Thus, some
irresponsible reprobates will continue to make regular financial donations to online sports books in spite of all of
my attempts to lift them out of poverty.
Oh, well!
Some folks
'get it', and some folks don't.
I realized
a long time ago that some folks actually bask in the warm
embrace of mediocracy!
